1. What you need:
Liquid Stitch or any Fabric glue: Hobby Lobby $4
Men’s Small T-Shirt: Walmart $4
Extra Long zipper: Hobby Lobby $2
2. Cut a slit to the desired length 3. Unzip zipper to length of slit, apply glue along edge of shirt and lay zipper on top, then apply glue the entire length of zipper 4. Add a dab of glue to the material of the zipper that exceeds the collar edge 5. Tuck under and hold for 30 seconds to let glue set. Wait 30 minute for the rest of the glue to dry. Don’t worry if some seeps out from underneath the zipper, it dries clear. YOU ARE GOOD TO GO!
p.s. my hands are blue from tie dying earlier that day…not bc it is freeeeeeezing in Wisconsin…

I almost can’t look at you for the fact that you GLUED a zipper onto a shirt! I think sewing would be just as fast and would last a lot longer.

I thought about it and I do have to say that’s not as bad as hemming pants with glue. That should just not be allowed.

Haha! I totally wanted to sew it. My boss is giving be her old sewing machine but I could not wait, so when ahead with glue. I am WAY too impatient!

I would consider using “fray check” (also can be found at hobby lobby) on the slit you cut to keep the t-shirt from fraying when you wash it. It is a clear liquid you put on the edge of fabric- also dries clear. Extend the life of your quick, easy DIY.

If it’s a knit shirt, it shouldn’t fray when washed, but it might roll a little bit. Non-knits can fray A LOT and fay check does work well.

I added a reinforced stitch to my zipper to keep the rolling of the knit in place. That should keep it put. What a fun DIY.

So Fun! I did it this weekend and wore my shirt today. I got compliments, so posted on my own blog, with a credit back to you of course. I want to try this zipper idea on the back of a shirt next, and maybe down the back of a skirt. So many things you can do with this. Great DIY – thanks for all your fun ideas and sharing!
