Wednesday – Boot Splurge

Too bright for no sunglasses)

New patterned tights)

I would like to say: I never splurge on clothes. I think this is for a couple reasons 1) I am constantly changing/evolving my look and never want to spent too much on my current obsession 2) my Mom instilled the value of a dollar in me from a early age, and always shopped the best deal 3) I live in Manhattan and I think they are going to start charging to breath.

The problem with my lack of splurge-ability is that I end up rebuying basic EVERY season. So I put aside my frugal ways and spent a little money on a pair of boots…a pair that I am hoping will carry my through this season and next. ย Fingers crossed, bc I love ’em.

I would love to know: what do think is worth splurging on? Is there any item that you never regretted spending a chunk of change on?

jeans and shoes are worth splurging on. shoes and jeans get the most wear so you need to buy pairs that will hold together! i don’t regret buying my first pair of louboutin heels at all. i’m pretty sure i spent my entire first paycheck on them, but they make me feel super confident and they’re black and white so they go with most things. best.purchase.ever. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Liz Says:

but i forgot that you don’t wear jeans, jenni ๐Ÿ˜‰ those of us who do should invest in a couple of really well-made pairs!

  3. Clare Says:

Those boots are beyond fab. I love the tunic, too!

  4. Monica Says:

Jeans, black staples (shoes, pants, skirts) and bras–seriously!

  5. Megan Says:

    I don’t wear jeans too often either… ๐Ÿ™‚

But boots, yup – worth the splurge. You can’t get ’em cheap or they look super cheap, and fall apart. A good boot is a much. My only way around this is to buy boots at the end of the season (aka winter) when they are on sale. Basically stalk the ones I like and get them before they’re gone but after they go cheaper…

Where are your new boots from/brand? They are great!

    Love the boots!
I’m not much of a splurger either. But I’m willing so spend more on classic items like coats, shoes / boots and handbags that I know I will use year after year.

  7. Amy Says:

OMG! I die for those boots!! LOOOOOVVVEEE Them!!

I will splurge on coats because (as you know living in NYC) it is cold 8 months out of the year in Boston, so I feel like it is always a good investment since I will be wearing a lot of coats from October to May. LOL ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Jill Says:

Those boots are FABULOUS. Definitely worth splurging on!

I use to splurge on jeans but I change styles so often now i go cheap. Boots are my #1 splurge. My newest splurge: a leather jacket. It is to DIE for!!

  10. mariel Says:

really cute boots! where are they from?

i always spend a lot on jeans because i know i’ll wear them to death…that and shoes. i refuse to buy cheap shoes since we walk so much in new york! totally worth it.

  11. Chelsea Says:

love those boots! totally worth the splurge, i think. where did you get them?

  12. D Says:

i am not a big splurger really, but i do love bmakowsky handbags and to me, that’s splurging at marshalls or tjmaxx. i know that’s not big time, but it kinda is to me.

  13. nikki Says:

Investment pieces are so necessary! Love. those. boots.

  14. Melanie Says:

Not a big slurger either, but I have learned – like Monica said – bras! Those girls are with you your entire life and if you don’t fit them properly, they will be hanging low by the time you are 30. I was a ‘bra fit specialist’ and I know what it takes. Be proud!!

I too, would like to know more about the boots!

  15. sherry Says:

The boots look great on you. Splurge!!!! What’s that? The last time I splurged was when I went to the junior prom. The night was a total bust. I didn’t like him and he didn’t like me. The dress was fabulous. Learned my lesson.

  16. Carey Says:

    Really great outfit!!!!
I think shoes are worth spending a little more on – I rarely buy ones that aren’t leather – they just don’t hold up as well. Plus, if I can buy a pair of nice leather shoes at Marshalls for $30, why would I buy a pair of faux suede or leather ones from Payless for nearly as much?!? That’s never made sense to me. Sweaters I’ll also spend more on as long as they are 100% wool or whatever – must hold up for the long haul without pills (and they’re usually from Marshalls too, so they won’t be over $50!).

  17. Skinny Dip Says:

I think its always worth spending a bit more on basics that you wear all the time. Here are my must haves: a winter coat you love, a great pair of boots that you can wear with everything, a nice black high waisted skirt, jeans that make you feel good whenever you put them on, a neutral color blazer that fits really well & a leather hand bag (not necessarily designer, just something that is good quality and won’t fall apart). I find if I have these pieces I can always fill in the rest with trendier stuff from H&M, F21, thrifted etc. I make a point never to splurge on really trendy stuff, only things I know I’ll wear again and again!

  18. Market Publique Says:

    I splurge on:

    – Shoes: If they’re not comfortable or are not going to last, you can’t walk all over Manhattan in them. Plus shoes make the outfit. If you want to make the outfit look cheap, you can wear cheap shoes…

    – Bags: Trust me, you do not want to be carrying a bag full of stuff whose handle just busted. Trust me.

    – Cashmere sweaters: They’re classic, last forever and are super warm. Invest.

    – Bras: Even a man knows this (that man being Tim Gunn… hehehe).

  19. Market Publique Says:

Oh wait, and I think you forgot to mention where the boots are from? or did I just miss it?
