Friday – Florida!

November 20, 2009 by Jenni

Got to my ‘rents condo in Florida yesterday to do some serious (and much needed) chillin’. Ahhh. About to head to the pool to read some trashy mags and sun the day away. Have a GREAT weekend :)

(Sunset over the 14th hole, aka our backyark…too bad I am not a golfer…)

Wednesday – So Versatile

November 19, 2009 by Jenni

(New bacelet from my friend and photographer Lizzy!)

(curled with the bangs back today, so versatile)

I am officially apologizing to my natural brunette color. I thought blonde was the way to go, but after a few days with my dark ‘do I may change my tune. Thanks to all the nice words from you all :) , my coworkers raving, and the increased amount of double takes from guys (and girls) on the street (prob bc I live among the hipsters on the LES). I am also digging pair it with more intense shades of lipstick, do you guy have any new lipstick recommendations??

p.s. Since it has been getting darker earlier, I am forced to find new places to take outfit pics, ie elevator, ladies room, storage closet…its a game of where will Jenni end up next…

Tuesday-My New ‘Do

November 18, 2009 by Jenni

So I did it. After 5 years of rocking the the same look, I switched it up and I am feeling pretty darn good.  I put my hair in the hands of another, and after a million hours and no mirror, this was the final product. Why no mirror you ask? I was a hair model and went though this transformation in front of a class of 20 hair stylist.  All the ohhh-ing and ahhh-ing after it was completed definitely softened the shock of the change. Although it is a little darker and more layered then I hoped, I think it is the perfect winter look!

DIY: Statement Necklace

I am going to end this week in the best way I know possible, with a DIY! After realizing I had a crazy amount of broken chain and old necklaces I was not using, I decided to turn them into one statement necklace.  I was jazzed on the outcome, it is perfect to dress up a LBD for a holiday party, or could make the perfect Christmas gift (Mom, pretend you did not read that).

How to Make it:

IMG_7128
1: Gather all the old chains and broken necklaces in your jewelry box. If you do not have enough stop in at your local second hand store and pick up some cheap chain necklaces (I usually pay 25cents to $1.50 for mine)

IMG_7140
2: Lay out the chains on a flat surface and arrange the chains in a
“U” shape mimicking how you would want them to hang around your neck.
You will need a pliers to make some chains shorter.

IMG_7142
3. String a large jump-ring though the end of each change to secure
each side of the necklace. Make sure the chains are in the same order
on both sides.

IMG_7145
4. Tie a ribbon bow on each side of the jump-ring, leaving enough
ribbon to be able to adjust the knot in the back making it a longer or
shorter necklace.

5. Finishing touches: add a flower broach to one side for an extra
special occasion!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Thursday – Best invention ever: Jean Leggings

This hat and these boots are by far my fave two items for the winter, so expect to see a whoooole lot of them. Also, the other day my friend was talking about jean leggings and how comfortable the they are, I thought to myself, this would be PERFECT for me bc I hate jeans, but LOVE leggings. After cleaning my closet last weekend, I found that I ALREADY had a pair. I slipped them on and an instant smile came across my face. I am now on a jean legging quest, bc you know, one pair is  never enough.

My third fave thing of the season: my poncho. So warm, so comfortable.

Continuing on my Alexa Chung obsession, I stumbled across these stellar pics of her from the Wren ‘09 Holiday lookbook. I love the models, the styling and pictures. I am starting to get really excited about holiday party season, because in case you did not know, I LOVE holiday parties. Something is really great about getting dressed up, drinking wine and meeting people outside of the bar environment. I am looking for some new holiday dresses, let me know if you’ve spotted any must haves!!!

Nov1-

This weekend I finally wore the first skirt I hemmed with my new sewing machine! I will defineitly say it was not perfect but it was wearable. I got bundled up and took it for a test drive to the Brooklyn Museum were we saw a stellar exhibit Who Shot Rock and Roll. I highly recommend.

I loved this picture for two reasons: It was taken before Madonna was famous, a girl from her gym just snapped it because she looked so great.  And I love that we are rocking a similar look, except mine is nipped and tucked. Madonna will ALWAYS be relevant.

I
will love Kurt Cobain always and forever. I am a girl of the 90’s.

What started as a simple museum trip turned into chasing down buses, hopping around Brooklyn then Manhattan, drinking and eating WAY too much. And basically having a great Saturday.

I have been quite obsessed with Audrey Hepburn recently. This last week has been a marathon of Love in the Afternoon, Roman Holiday, Charade and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She is insanely beautiful, has impeccable style and encapsulates old Hollywood. I miss the simplicity of a classic love story and those long gazing glamour shots. I have bunch more movies queued up, but would LOVE to hear your fave oldies so I can add to my list!

After posting these images last week, I got a bunch of comments about cutting my hair (mostly from friends and family who have seen my hair this long for the last decade). So I turn the question on you all…Should I take the plunge and get it chopped??? I have a hair appointment (cut and dye) in two weeks, any suggestions?

Sidenote: just wanted to say I felt great wearing this outfit, I truly love this skirt. Also, there were a lot of questions on where I got my boots, they are Blowfish and just went on sale… Best. Purchase. Ever.
